Premature Birth| Premature Child Care

A premature birth is when the child before the 37th Weeks gestation was born or at birth weighed less than 2500g. Premature births occur today with the same frequency as before. However, the ways of premature child care exponentially better than a few decades ago. Especially the very small premature infants with a birth weight below 1500 g will benefit significantly from improved treatment methods.

Prevention

Prevention, i.e. measures for the prevention of preterm delivery is through the education and counseling of pregnant women about the changes in Pregnancy and a condition adapted to the practice. A woman who has knowledge over the normal processes during pregnancy, will have a better way to detect problems or unusual, and discuss this with their doctor.

At certain work, industrial safety standards apply to pregnant women who are governed by the Maternity Protection. For example, night work and heavy lifting, prolonged standing or assembly lines work for pregnant women are no longer allowed. But the housewifely activities and the leisure activities need to be considered in a necessary change of lifestyle.

Sign

Premature birth may announce by certain signs, such as premature labor or premature rupture of membranes (PROM). Premature birth may also be triggered from absence from reason. This can be both causes that are justified in the maternal organism, as well as those which occur through failure of the fetus.

In the majority cases, infections play ascending (from the maternal genital tract upwards, towards the cervix/uterus) and the condition of the placenta is an essential role. Both can be triggers for premature labor or premature rupture of membranes.

Premature circumstances, which vary from increased of contractions through their effect on the cervix can be suppressed with drugs. The so-called circumstances inhibitors (Tokolytika deal) are not the cause of premature circumstances. With the extra time the child can be given the opportunity to gain the necessary maturity to their lung before birth (by glucocorticoids). The Pregnant Woman can still be laid in time in a perinatal center.

Consequences for the child prematurity

The limit for viability in spite of all available modern techniques, between the 23 and 25 week of pregnancy achieved. In children, when they born before 25th weeks, there is the risk of moderate to severe disabilities. The decisive factor in prognosis is serious. Children with less than 1500g birth of weight have unfortunately a 200-fold increased risk of dying than children with a weight of over 2500g; surviving children have to bear one to 10 times higher risk of neurological damage of it. Moreover, the developmental disabilities, visual and hearing impairment, seizures and chronic lung problems are more common in the very small premature babies. One of those important factors for the prevention of lung problems, the development of lung maturity of the fetus, usually occurs around 24th weeks.

Give more attention to your pregnancy, because if your baby is preterm labor, the premature child care that you should do is more difficult than in babies born within the normal birth.
